SUMMARY:WPI Research Experience for Teachers (RET)
DESCRIPTION:In this 6 week summer program\, WPI will be pairing five in-service and pre-service teachers to attended workshops and conduct research based on ideas such as healthy lives\, clean energy\, and climate action. Experience multiple entry points for hands-on\, place-based science and participate in collaborative projects with professional scientists. Explore wetland\, estuary\, marine\, and forest habitats and participate in authentic data collection. DESCRIPTION:MSEF is collaborating with teachers across the state to provide professional development for middle and high school teachers. \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED \nMiddle School and High School Focus \nAthol-Royalston High School\, Athol \nHost: Latasha Sheffield\, Athol-Royalston Schools \n9 a.m. – 2 p.m.\, lunch provided \nSuitable for Middle School and High School programs\, learn more about how to support a group of students doing independent research. Help students develop topic ideas\, set reasonable goals\, and develop timelines so the process doesn’t feel rushed. Leave with a game plan to help students have strong project plans. \nIn the morning we will explore outside spaces around the school for ideas on how to help students generate project ideas based on observations and phenomena. \nThese programs are free of charge to teachers.  \nThese programs are designed for classroom teachers and school leaders.  \nSpace is limited.
