DESCRIPTION:If you are interested in learning about hosting a science fair at your school or are interested in what the Berkshire STEM Lending Library has to offer join us at the MCLA Center for Science and Innovation on Oct. 19th from 3:30 – 6:30 pm.  MSEF will give an overview of the benefits and process of science fair programs and answer questions about updates that have been made to streamline the process to better support student learning. Dr. Carolyn Dehner\, MCLA\, will host a rules and regulations session to help get you started. \nThe Berkshire STEM Lending Library will also be open and Dr. Ann Billetz\, Berkshire STEM Network Coordinator\, will be on hand to answer any questions.

SUMMARY:Mathworks: Are the Rainforests Disappearing
DESCRIPTION:Mathworks has partnered with Framingham State University for a STEM Week presentation. “The Amazon rainforest is the largest and most diverse rainforest in the world. However\, it has been receding due to rampant deforestation. In this session\, we will use MATLAB and the Image Processing Toolbox to analyze satellite images of the rainforest spanning several years and assess the extent to which the rainforest has “disappeared”.
