SUMMARY:Engineering Design with Artificial Intelligence for Middle and High School Teachers
DESCRIPTION:This course has two parts: learning about AI/ML and learning how to use it in Middle and High School STEAM classes. During the course\, participants will engage in hands-on robotics activities using AI. No prior robotics experience is required. \nJan 17 – May 3\nAnytime \nhttps://universitycollege.tufts.edu/courses/browse/engineering-design-artificial-intelligence-middle-and-high-school-teachers-d

SUMMARY:Survivor Island Challenge
DESCRIPTION:This unique simulation experience engages participants to imagine they are on a desered island where they will work with solar panels\, water pumps\, windmills and other alternative energy sources as you design and build a system for moving and filtering water from a fresh water resource to their encampment. Throughout the challenge participants keep a survivor’s logbook to document their ideas and results. They’ll participate in all elements of the challenge and have the opportunity to collaborate and reflect with instructors and fellow attendees. \nFebruary 9- 10\n8:30 – 3:30 PM \nRegister at https://www.wadeinstitutema.org/focus-workshops/

SUMMARY:My Heart in Your Hands
DESCRIPTION:The heart uniquely straddles the world of art and science — a powerful metaphor for love and loss on the one hand\, a literal life-sustaining force within each of us and an intense focus of genetic and medical research on the other. Join a Broad Discovery Series x Catalyst Conversations event addressing the heart\, from the point of view of researchers who work on finding cures to heart disease and of writers and artists for whom the heart holds deeper meaning. \nTuesday\, February 13th\n6:00 – 7:00 pm\nReception to follow

SUMMARY:Storyline Model of Teaching and Learning Science
DESCRIPTION:Dese Approved course for OAPL. The course guides educators through the shift toward student-centered science teaching and learning where students ‘figure out’ and explain a real-world phenomenon\, as well as the implementation of high-quality instructional materials. \nFebruary 20-24\n8:45-3:30pm \nTo register: https://www.wpi.edu/academics/stem-education-center/professional-development/at-wpi (for questions\, email Donna Taylor: dltaylor@wpi.edu) \n
