MSSEF Chronicle

Founded in 1949 by the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and a group of science educators, MSSEF has advanced science literacy and inspired new generations of science and engineering leaders for over six decades. MSSEF supports schools and empowers teachers through science fair programs in which students experience first-hand the professional practices of scientists and engineers. Almost 35,000 students have participated directly in Massachusetts statewide fairs, and hundreds of thousands have been part of the state fair pipeline: regional and school-based science fairs across the Commonwealth.

With Thanks

MSSEF is most grateful to its loyal consortium of corporations, individuals, foundations, institutions of higher learning, and professional and trade organizations that underwrite our operations and special initiatives, create a nationally acclaimed Award Recognition Program, and make it possible to develop and implement STEM programs for Massachusetts youth.

Simply stated, MSSEF is a small organization that is accomplishing a big mission! We succeed because of our strong partnerships, loyal sponsors and dedicated volunteers.

Donate to MSSEF

Your contribution will support:
  • Free access to the science fair program for every MA student in grades 6-12.
  • Specialized professional development and resources for STEM teachers.
  • In high-needs, “gateway cities,” one-on-one mentoring of students working on independent research through MSSEF’s Curious Minds Initiative.
  • Science literacy for all students and the future STEM talent workforce.
